  • Paper plate
  • Acrylic paints in bright orange (brighter than card stock), deep red (darker than card stock) and black
  • Plastic canvas
  • Sponge paint roller
  • Gold paper
  • Scissors
  • Decorative-edge scissors
  • Bright gold paint
  • Glue stick
  • Gold paint pen

    How To Make It

    1. Spread paint onto paper plate in three separate areas of the same plate. In other words, you should have three globs of colored paint on the plate. Use a sponge roller to apply the paint. Soak it in water first. Squeeze out the excess water.
    2. Lay a piece of plastic canvas over paper to be painted. roll the dampened roller in the paint, picking up some of all colors but very little black. Paint in random strokes over the plastic canvas. Use a generous amount of paint and paint over areas again if needed. Lift the plastic canvas occasionally to check the coverage. Let it dry.
    3. Cut painted paper into desired shapes. Cut out shapes such as stars, trees or angels. You can glue coordinating paper (gold would be great) to create a border and show-through cutout. Use decorative scissors to make a border if you like. Use a gold paint pen to add designs and words to the card.
