Jewelry Box
Supplies
Cardboard box, shoe box is perfect
Purple and Blue Paints
Small oval mirror
Dark Blue, medium blue and green paper.
Thick Aluminum Foil
Dry Ballpoint Pen
Stickers, sequins
Color markers, silver marker pen
Embroidery floss in 3 colors or ribbon, about 60cm (24in)
Old Key
Scissors, pinking scissors
Glue
How To Make It
- Paint the outside of the bottom of the box blue and the lid purple.
- Cut a diamond from medium blue paper. Glue it in the center of the box lid. Glue the mirror in the center of the diamond.
- Cut two 6cm (2 3/8in)squares of foil in half to make 4 triangles. Draw patterns on the triangles with the ballpoint pen. Glue triangles to the corners of the lid.
- Glue a strip of green paper to one long side of the lid. Glue on a foil circle, cut with pinking scissors and decorate. Glue on a dark blue paper keyhole.
- Decorate the lid with sequins, stickers, color markers and silver pen. Draw a pattern on the bottom of the box with color markers and silver pen.
- Twist together the 3 colors of embroidery floss to make a cord. Loop the cord through the key and knot the end.
Note: You don't have to follow these decorating instructions for the box. You can decorate it any way you want. Some ideas to use are pictures of you, glitter glue, pom-pom's, plastic gemstones, stickers or anything else!
