When you need to make an informal apology. When you did not hear or understand what someone has said. When Not To Say It When you are budding in front of someone. While you are already reaching around someone. When confronting someone about something. In an angry tone. Why We Say It So we don't effend someone. To avoid being physical with someone. To show respect to another person. How To Say It Make eye contact with the person and smile. Say, "Excuse me" in a normal tone of voice. Stated why you are saying it. Examples "Excuse me, I need to get over there please." "Excuse me, I'm trying to reach that button." "Excuse me, I didn't hear what you said." "Excuse me, I didn't mean to do that."
