Learning Your Manners 101 I know the proper, "Guest Manners" |
Tips and Tricks For Being A Good Guest
- When arriving at the house, always say thank you for being invited and give a little gift to the host (box of candy, greeting card, flowers, etc).
- Wait to be asked to sit down. Don't just make yourself at home.
- Always say please and thank you.
- Ask where the bathroom is when you need it. Don't search for it yourself.
- If you need something, start your question with, "May I please have..."
- Do not critize a person's home or the way they live even if you do not agree with it. You are a guest and not a critic.
- Do not help yourself to food or drink. Wait to be asked.
- Compliment the host on their home or something of interest in their home. Makes for a great conversation starter.
- If the host does not take you on a tour of their house, don't ask for one. If they want you to see their house, they will offer.
- When leaving, always say thank you and that you had a good time.
