Santa Cookies

Ingredients

  • 8 oz. white or chocolate flavoured candy coating
  • 1 tsp. vegetable shortening
  • 24 sugar cookies (2 1/2-inch)
  • Red or green colored sugar
  • Flaked coconut
  • 12 Small gumdrops, cut in half crosswise
  • 72 red cinnamon candies

    Method

    1. Line cookie sheets with wax paper. Set aside
    2. In 1-quart saucepan, combine candy coating and shortening. Melt over low heat, stirring constantly.
    3. Dip top of each cookie into coating.
    4. Place cookies dipped sides up in prepared cookie sheets.
    5. Decorate each Santa with colored sugar to make hat, and coconut to make beard. Use gumdrop half to make pom-pom for hat, and cinnamon candies for eyes and nose.
    6. Let dry completely before storing.
